2006 JARVIS ESTATE Cabernet Franc

This wine has a rich ruby red colour, raspberry and cherry aromas and spicy notes lifted by subtle oak. The palate is soft and rounded with flavours reminiscent of dark cherry and chocolate.

Cabernet Franc is a traditional French variety. The 2006 vintage was one of the coolest ever at Jarvis Estate and the fruit was harvest a month later than usual. Due to the long growing season we reduced cropping levels by 40% to ensure even ripening and resulting intense flavours. Rich ruby in colour this wine has lifted raspberry, blackcurrant, cherry and floral notes on the nose as well as a slight savouriness and lifted oak. The palate is soft and rounded with integrated oak, cherries, blood plum and raspberry flavours providing a long and persistent finish. This wine is drinking very well now but will also reward patient cellaring for 10+ years.
